Heavy Rail (Subway)
Many cities have heavy rail and buses, but they only sometimes have good routes for these forms of transportation. A typical design for heavy rail is to make a cross, usually with two lines going north-south and two going east-west, at a big station in the middle. This is good for tourists, from the airport to the downtown area, where most of the stuff is. However, the city’s people often do not live at the airport. They live around downtown and want to go to grocery stores and parks. Make it like Tokyo, with lines going everywhere around the city to specific locations. You will have a prosperous city.
Bus
Many people stereotype buses as low-priority vehicles that carry people who do not have and need more money to buy a car around the city. Sadly, this is often the case. Even if this stereotype was false, people still wouldn’t ride because they always get stuck in traffic. However, everyone riding on the street in their cars would fit into one bus. Even better, if buses had priority lanes, they would go much faster and more efficiently. But in American and Canadian cities, we designed for cars. But European cities were built before the vehicle, with streets designed for people, streetcars, and later, buses. However, we can edit our cities to be better open for all forms of transportation. We can take away one lane on streets for buses or bikes. We can put express lanes on interstates and highways through our cities. We can do all of this to improve buses.
Other Forms
- Streetcar – These old forms of public transportation often serve tourism. There is one in downtown Atlanta, and it follows the same rules as buses. It slows down in traffic.
- Trolleys -These old forms of public transportation often serve tourism. There is not one in downtown Atlanta, but it follows the same rules as buses and gets slowed down in traffic.
- Monorail – Best for airports.
- Maglev Train – We have to wait for the future.
- Ski Lift – Why is this even on here?
A developed country isn’t were the poor have cars. It’s were the rich use public transportation.
