Down the Rabbit Hole: Prince Henry the Navigator

2 min read

We’ve all done it. You search for one thing on Wikipedia but end up spending an hour on the site. Going down the Rabbit Hole. Once you’re done, you feel mixed. Although you are glad to have “learned so much,” you are also angry at yourself for allowing this to happen. But I have created a short rabbit hole (kind of), but it feels long. It allows you to forget about the surrounding world and to relax. This is the third of five “Down the Rabbit Hole” posts. In each of these posts, there will be a list of clues starting with a Wikipedia link. These clues will lead you to links until you reach the end of the rabbit hole. In each Rabbit Hole, there will be approximately 20 clues. So, please begin.

  1. Prince Henry the Navigator
  2. Second main body paragraph; the type of ship that the Portuguese pioneered.
  3. Under “History,” the very first link.
  4. Side bar; their two- or three-worded national song, depending on which language you speak.
  5. Which country was it composed in?
  6. Another word for key, as in “The Florida Keys“.
  7. This language – now extinct – was the primary language spoken by the people of the Caribbean.
  8. Remember that region of ***** that was the solution to a clue? Which country was the region a part of? (Some people don’t like glasses, so instead they use ********.)
  9. Columbus’s home country.
  10. The gulf of it.
  11. The city in the west.
  12. It’s a dictator!
  13. Which treaty established Vatican City? (Second to the last link of a paragraph.)

  15. The only official language.
  16. Second link, second paragraph.
  17. “…led to the conquests of Bavaria, Saxony, and northern *****.”
  18. At the very bottom, there will be a blue box with subtitles. Under “Reconquesta”, keep reading. Click on the link that you recognize from earlier.
  19. What was he prince of?
  20. You will recognize a link under the subtitle “Age of Discoveries.”
  21. You made it out!
