Space
I have seen that in the past, many people have been furious at politicians who are promoting cycling infrastructure. But I ask these people, “Why?” “Why not?” and they say it will slow down traffic. To this, I respond that giving away one lane for cyclist cyclists reduces traffic by promoting cycling, which gets fewer people on the road. In addition, cars are actually the problem for traffic, not how many lanes there are. Cars can be monsters, and monsters of cars can take up more space than more than six bikes.
The Environment
There is one apparent reason why people should choose bikes, and that is the environment. Cars that run on gas or diesel pollute the air, which harms the environment. However, bicycles and electric vehicles do not pollute and are safer for the environment. However, electric cars use electricity, and electric vehicles can indirectly hurt the environment by using electricity made from coal, oil, or natural gas. Bikes, however, are always powered by one thing, our strength. So, in this case, bikes are the safest for the environment.
Speed
If traveling short distances, bikes are almost always the best option. Since most people use cars to commute daily, bikes can be a fast, reliable form of transportation in a city with many cars. However, some may argue that bikes must be more rapid and have adequate infrastructure. But this is not true. In fact, infrastructure or not, bikes are almost always the quickest and most reliable way to get around. The thing that infrastructure does is that it makes biking more enticing and safe for everyone.
Health
As many people know, bikes are perfect for your health. Bikes can help reduce the risk of asthma by getting you out of your stinky car and out in the fresh air. Bikes can also reduce the risk of obesity by helping burn unwanted calories. They can also reduce the risk of many other things, such as high blood pressure and diabetes. This reason may be the final seal for many people, but others need convincing and to be taught what a bike is (below).
But…
People often frustrate me by riding something else instead of a plain, old bike. They often ride something that is technically a bike but is not. Below is a list of them.
- Motorcycles – these are not the most environmentally friendly choices. They were designed for convenience, but their loud and polluting nature is a significant drawback.
- Cars – This is if you are not looking. I once saw a car turn into a bike lane, drive in until it reached a stop sign, and get mad about it.
To me, it doesn’t matter whether it’s raining or the sun is shining or whatever: as long as I’m riding a bike I know I’m the luckiest guy in the world.
